Award-winning conductor, composer, organist, and educator Eric Choate returns for his second season as Marin Symphony Choral Director. In his first year, he quickly earned praise from singers and audiences alike for his musical insight, inspiring leadership, and commitment to artistic excellence.

A respected figure in the Bay Area choral community, Choate serves on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he teaches choral and organ studies. He is also Artistic Director of the San Francisco Boys Chorus and maintains an active international career as a conductor, recitalist, and composer.

His broad artistic experience, combined with a passion for developing singers and building vibrant choral communities, makes him an ideal leader for Marin Symphony’s growing choral program. The Marin Symphony Chorus is a distinguished ensemble of approximately 90 singers from throughout Marin County and the greater Bay Area. Composed of experienced vocalists with strong musicianship and a passion for choral performance, the Chorus brings depth, power, and artistry to Marin Symphony concerts each season.

Under the direction of acclaimed conductor, composer, and organist Eric Choate, Chorus members enjoy the opportunity to perform some of the most inspiring works in the choral-orchestral repertoire alongside Marin Symphony musicians.

From beloved holiday traditions to large-scale symphonic masterworks, the Chorus plays a vital role in bringing unforgettable musical experiences to audiences throughout Marin County.

Marin Symphony Chamber Chorus annually performs the magical Holiday Choral Concerts by Candlelight at St. Raphael’s Church in downtown San Rafael. These concerts are presented the first weekend of December and include a mix of world and traditional holiday music, featured youth choirs, vocal soloists, Marin Symphony instrumentalists, and sing-along carols.
