2019 EUROPEAN TOUR: Prague, Vienna, and Budapest, June 20th - 28th
In June 2019, the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra went on its first tour in 20 years, visiting and performing concerts to full houses in Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. Our young musicians relished this incredible opportunity to see the world, perform in amazing concert venues, and create life-long friendships.
For over 65 years, the Marin Symphony has educated and inspired thousands of young musicians through its Youth Programs. Over 180 students each year, ages 8-19, represent 28 schools in 13 cities in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra is the top ensemble in this three-tiered program, with alumni in the San Francisco Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and many other professional orchestras in the U.S. and Europe. This is MSYO’s first tour to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. Previous MSYO tours have been to Italy, Canada, and Australia.
Dedicated to championing works by young composers, MSYO is proud to perform Freedom March by its own timpanist, Liam Wallace. Liam is a student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Freedom March won him a position as finalist in the National Young Composers Challenge in 2017.
