Masterworks 4: Shostakovich & Dvořák
Fawzi Haimor, conductor
Oliver Herbert, cello
PROGRAM:
Valerie Coleman: Umoja
Shostakovich: Cello Concerto No.1 in E-flat Major, Op.107; Oliver Herbert, cello
Dvořák: Symphony No.8 in G Major, Op.88
For our final program, Maestro Haimor has chosen Valerie Coleman’s anthem of unity Umoja to begin, followed by the return of Bay Area native and Marin favorite, cellist Oliver Herbert, performing Shostakovich’s virtuosic and exciting Cello Concerto No.1. We close our season with Dvořák’s optimistic, triumphant Eighth Symphony.
Donors in the CONDUCTOR’S CIRCLE ($1,000 Annual Fund donors) and above are invited to an exclusive reception at College of Marin Fine Arts Gallery following the Saturday Evening and Sunday Afternoon Masterworks performances.
